You gotta earn my business…

…and these people did. This is a cookie shop in downtown Charleston, and I’ve gotta admit I was drawn in by nothing other than the name. We had just had an unbelievable lunch at the East Bay Deli, a local hangout, and as we left we noticed this small cookie shop across the way. I’m not big on sweets, but the name coupled with the atmosphere made the place so inviting that I couldn’t resist.

Kinda makes me think about the church. Is it possible to draw people in by creating an irresistable environment? Or several? Someone managed to reach me with the message of great cookies, and my official classification was “un-cookied”, and not interested in converting. If I could be reached to buy some un-needed baked goods, how effective can we be at sharing the greatest news ever heard?

My point is this: environment is everything. It’s not just what you offer, but how you offer it.

I’m sure Em will dissect this sign further (I actually took the pic because I knew she’d get a kick out of it).

By the way, the cookies were awesome. I’ll be going back as soon as I can, and recommending the place to everyone…

I hope you brought me back a cookie too…it’s the only way to properly judge them. Did they follow through on their branding? ;) Those little guys look like the Pillsbury dough boy’s cousins or something.
