Staff Inflection

I am constantly reminded how God has blessed us with a great staff. I believe that a church’s staff is its DNA – it determines how it will grow. And we’ve got some great people driving us. Here’s a rundown of our staff, in the order they were hired:

Susan. [far right - keeping an eye on everyone] She keeps us all together, both financially and organizationally. She was at RPC when I came, and in the beginning it was just her and me. She has a great attitude, more faith than the rest of us put together, and an uncanny ability to judge character. I don’t need to tell you how vital those skills are to us.

Pam. [next to Susan - giving Michael a hard time] She’s our staff encourager. She’s officially our Children’s Pastor, which means she is in charge of PowerUp and all kids activities. She was our third full-time hire, and I’ve often said this was the smartest decision I’ve ever made (even though I didn’t realize it at the time).

Emily. [far left - staring off into space. I think she calls this "being creative".] We initially hired Em part time as a receptionist, but over time we realized her real talents and she realized a career in ministry was right up her alley. She’s in charge of all communication materials (including graphics, video, written, verbal, & web) as well as our service programming (planning & executing all elements of our services) and the audio/visual booth & its workers. She has really grown as a leader AND a person, and is coming into her own as a part of our staff.

Justin. [over my left shoulder - he probably just saw something shiny] Where do I start? I’ve known Justin since he was 10 yrs old, and he came to RPC not long after I did. He played in our band and led worship for our youth, and when we needed a full-time adult worship leader he was the logical choice. He has crazy natural talent, which he has developed into a God-honoring consistency. He makes me proud every week.

Michael. [the one laughing - as usual] Even though he wasn’t on staff at the time, he WAS here when I came and has been a driving force behind almost every change we’ve made. He’s officially our Student Pastor, and unofficially my right arm. His courage and decisiveness were sorely needed throughout our transition and he pretty much keeps me straight.

Deanna. [not pictured - yet] I thought I’d send a shout out to our newest victim member – Deanna Braswell. She’s been attending RPC with her husband Gary and daughter Ava for a while now, and will be coming on board in January to be my assistant, help cover phones, and help out our other staff in general. But I imagine that much like Em, it won’t be long before she’ll transition into another role. She’s talented and has a great sense of humor, which are the two ingredients necessary to work at RPC – well, that and being insane.

I have never seen a staff fit so well together – I believe God had a purpose in mind when He brought you all together. I am glad I am back to see it all come together and can be a part of seeing His plan in action.
