Read the following quote today in Visioneering by Andy Stanley, and it rocked my world. I’ve really been praying the last few days about our facility issue and our space problem, and I think this is God’s answer to me (at least in part). Check it:
What God originates, he orchestrates.
“How is never a problem with God. It is usually a big problem for us. But how is God’s specialty. If the Old and New Testaments teach us anything, they teach us that nothing is too difficult for God. What he originates, he orchestrates…
Think back for a minute. Can you remember one Old or New Testament story in which the responsibility of figuring out how a divine vision would be fulfilled fell to the men or women to whom God gave the vision? Did Moses have to come up with a way to get the Israelites out of Egypt? Across the Red Sea? Through the desert? Was it David’s responsibility to figure out how to get Saul out of the way so he could ascend the throne of Israel? When Jesus told the apostles to feed the five thousand, were they responsible for figuring out how to make five loaves and two fish go that far? Were the disciples responsible for figuring out how to get the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth?…
A divine vision…is limited only by God’s potential and resources. That means anything is possible. If it is just a good idea, you have to make it happen. When God gives you a vision, there’s a sense in which you stand back and watch it happen.”
This is so true… how often in our lives every day do we try to control the “how” and tell God what we should do. We would keep from making a lot of the mistakes that we make (by we – I mean I) if we would relinquish our sense to have to control everything and see what God really has in store for us…
Thank you for this reminder not only about the big things, but everyday I need to remind myself that God is in control, not me (thank goodness)
