Who’s Your Coach?

Posted: September 24, 2008 in leadership

Wow. I spent yesterday in my Ocala Pastor’s Coaching Network, and it was intense. We covered A LOT of good material, and had some great discussions. I really think we’re already bonding as a group, which doesn’t usually happen this soon. And I caught up with three different pastors and set up offline meetings to discuss some things that’ll stretch me even more. Basically, it looks like if I’m not careful this guy is going to make me a better leader (which is exactly what I’m hoping).

So, here’s the question: Who’s your coach? Who’s helping you be a better you? Are you inentional about it, or just hoping to drift into it? Answer here (if you’re brave enough).

This is a tough question. I think there are alot of people who are making em a better person. But if I had to narrow it down (to somebody besides my husband) I would say Emma Murrell and Ginny Kersey are coaching me into slowly becoming a better person and better Christian, whether or not they actually signed up for that role.

Mr. Bob Martin. Just about the most inspirational man I have met in a very long time. What scares me is the fact he is a roofer! Yet he still inspires me for he wears his walk like a coat on a cold winter day. I have always said that if you have to tell someone you are a Christian then there is a problem with your walk. I often wonder who can see that in me? And how close does he have to be to see it!

for a long time i was just hoping to drift into it as you said. well no surprise but it didn’t work. i’ve really been doing a better job and being intentional about becoming a better person/christian…all thanks to travis thompson. he’s made a huge impact in my life.

Susan Mercer comes to mind. She gave me a copy of The Purpose Driven Life when I first started at RidgePoint. She is The same person today as she was when I first met her. Amazing lady. Pam, Emily, and too many more to mention. We have an awesome church!
