“Translate” has been electric. At least for me it has. I’m psyched every week, and really feel in tune with what God’s trying to say. I wasn’t kidding last week when I said this series has been on my heart for years. This is such a pivotal, and misunderstood, and underestimated subject for the American church. But I believe the missing ingredient for us is a renewed focus and passion to apply what we’re learning – to translate it into our lives rather than just our heads or hearts.
My parents were there. I always enjoy seeing them, and getting to speak to them. I’m a big believer in generational legacies, and believe I am a pastor IN SPITE of me but BECAUSE of them.
Was glad to see Justin today. He came to the first service, then stayed for a while afterward and hung out with a bunch of us. Looking forward to grabbing lunch with him later this week. But I think the best part about seeing him was that he brought Allie with him (no offense, bud!).
Today I was the barking pastor. I was pretty sick this week (in bed for 4 days), but had started feeling better so I decided to preach. Little did I know that my throat wasn’t as “better” as I thought it was. I spent the morning coughing, but it didn’t seem to bother anyone (and certainly didn’t bother me).
The two services had a different vibe. Not good or bad, but definitely different. We baptized in one. We lost power temporarily in one. I coughed A LOT more in one. But I felt like God showed up in both, and that’s what matters.
Looking forward to next week. We’re going to wrap this series up with a bang. I can’t wait for the subject we’re going to discuss and the way we’ll discuss it. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.
Had a unique experience afterward. There was a couple there that recently moved into town, and checked out RPC by recommendation from a family member. The funny thing is, the family member lives in Ocala and remembered me from last summer when I spoke at Church @ the Springs. Small world, huh?
That’s it for me. I’ll try to post more this week, but for now I’m gonna go grill some steaks, light a fire, and spend the evening listening to the wind howl…
